Description
The Great Ridge is a striking and iconic ridge in the Peak District, running between the villages of Castleton and Edale. Stretching for about 5 miles, it offers some of the most dramatic and panoramic views in the national park, with sweeping vistas across the Hope Valley, Kinder Scout, and the surrounding hills. The ridge itself is defined by its long, undulating crest, with prominent peaks like Mam Tor at its western end and Lose Hill at the eastern end. Hikers flock to the Great Ridge for its challenging yet rewarding trail, which provides a mix of exposed ridgelines, heather moorland, and iconic rocky outcrops. Whether walking at sunrise, during the golden hour, or on a clear day, the Great Ridge is a must-see for anyone exploring the Peak District.
